The Center was created on 1994 as part of the  College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Maryland.  It is located in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics.

The Center's location near Annapolis, MD, and Washington, D.C., provides opportunities to work with state, federal and international officials on public policy issues. The excellent and diverse faculty of the University of Maryland enhances the opportunities.

The Center creates publications, conferences and workshops that focus on economic issues in public policy at all levels. Opportunities are provided for visitors
