Farm Estate Planning Workshops - Materials
"Rising land prices have pushed the values of farm assets to
high levels. When it becomes time to pass farms to a new
generation, estate planning is essential to accomplish family
goals. The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics
has upcoming workshops that will help farm families with estate
planning in the constantly changing economic and legislative
situations we face. It will be well worth attending these
sessions for many Maryland owners of farmland."
Dr. Bruce
Gardner, Interim Dean
College of Agriculture and Natural Resources
What Happened?
Two, one day seminars for farm families and owners of farm
and rural land were held in August at two Maryland sites. The
purposes of these workshops were to
 | Develop a working knowledge of the various types of
estate planning tools that are applicable to their unique
situations. |
 | Understand the federal and state tax implications of the
various estate planning tools. |
 | Be motivated and comfortable in seeking local resources
to establish their individual estate plans. |
